Türkiye and Kuwait Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Four Strategic Agreements

Four agreements were signed between Türkiye and Kuwait in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, marking a new phase of cooperation in transport, maritime affairs, energy, and investment.

During the ceremony held as part of President Erdoğan's visit to the Gulf region, Investment and Finance Office President A. Burak Dağlıoğlu and Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Director General Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote direct investment cooperation between the two countries. The agreement aims to enhance bilateral investment ties and facilitate greater collaboration between the respective investment authorities.

The agreement is expected to pave the way for new and large-scale investment opportunities in both markets, reinforcing the long-term economic partnership between Türkiye and Kuwait. By facilitating information exchange, joint projects, and bilateral investment promotion activities, the MoU will contribute to enhancing investor confidence and creating a more dynamic investment environment for businesses in both nations.

Additional MoUs were signed between Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Kuwait's Ministry of Interior, as well as between Türkiye's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. These agreements aim to strengthen cooperation in transportation connectivity and energy efficiency.

Kuwaiti investments in Türkiye have exceeded USD 2 billion, primarily in the finance and real estate sectors. Currently, 427 Kuwaiti companies operate in Türkiye, while bilateral trade volume reached approximately USD 700 million in 2024. The newly signed agreements are expected to further strengthen the economic partnership and expand trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
