Hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely known as the Summer Davos, convened global leaders in Dalian, China, under the theme “Entrepreneurship for a New Era."
Bringing together more than 1,500 leaders from business, government, academia, and the innovation ecosystem, the event explored how emerging technologies and innovation can drive economic growth, competitiveness, and resilience across Asia and beyond.
As part of the Investment and Finance Office's 20th-anniversary roadshow in China, President A. Burak Dağlıoğlu participated as a speaker in two high-level sessions: “STAR FDI Leaders: Asia's Investment Playbook" and “Growth Map Rewritten."
The “STAR FDI Leaders: Asia's Investment Playbook" session focused on attracting high-value-added FDI, investment facilitation policies, and the transformation of the global investment landscape. Bringing together senior representatives from the public and private sectors, the discussion examined how sustainable, trusted, agile, and responsible investments contribute to economic growth, employment, and sustainable development.
During the discussions, Dağlıoğlu emphasized that investment decisions today are shaped not only by cost advantages but increasingly by trust, predictability, resilience, talent, and strong industrial ecosystems. He highlighted that a long-term vision and investor confidence remain at the core of high-value investments.
Underscoring Türkiye's strategic position at the nexus of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Dağlıoğlu noted that the country's advanced industrial base, skilled workforce, strong logistics network, and integration with global markets continue to strengthen its role as a powerhouse for investments in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Meanwhile, the “Growth Map Rewritten" session featured discussions on the new drivers of competitiveness, shifting investment flows, the impact of geoeconomic fragmentation, and the growth potential of emerging economies. In his remarks, Dağlıoğlu noted that growth and prosperity are distinct concepts, adding that the center of global economic weight and prosperity is increasingly shifting eastward.
He observed that prosperity growth in Europe has largely stagnated, while economies in the East, particularly across Asia, continue to improve living standards and economic performance steadily. Dağlıoğlu emphasized that Türkiye, with its strategic position connecting three continents, stands at the heart of this transformation.
Highlighting Türkiye's strong industrial infrastructure, strategic connectivity, qualified talent pool, and ongoing reform agenda, Dağlıoğlu stated that the country continues to outperform broader global growth trends. He noted that Türkiye is strengthening international partnerships through an investor-focused approach, introducing new incentive mechanisms, and advancing the “Powerhouse for Investments, the Türkiye Century" program, announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which aims to transform these advantages into next-generation investment opportunities.
